Cal Poly's Krieghoff named Big West Freshman of the Year, Epps named to Second Team

After leading the conference in scoring with 11 goals during the regular season, Cal Poly's Elise Krieghoff earned Big West Freshman of the Year on Wednesday. Krieghoof was one of two Mustangs also named to the All-Big West Conference First Team.

Cici Kobinski, a senior, also earned a spot on the First Team for the second time in her career. She scored 5 goals and dished out 15 assists for the Mustangs and has started every game the last three seasons.

St. Joseph High graduate Sara Epps, a redshirt freshman, earned Second Team honors. Epps has 4 goals and 4 assists for the Mustangs. Epps and Krieghoff were also named to the All-Freshman Team.

Senior defender Shandon Rovetta also earned Second Team recognition.

The Cal Poly women finished conference play 6-1-2 and tied for second place. They're the #3 seed in the Conference Tournament and play Cal State Northridge at 5pm in the semifinals on Thursday. The winner advances to the championship on Sunday at 1pm that'll be televised live on Fox Prime Ticket. #1 Cal State Fullerton plays #4 UC Irvine in the other semifinal.
