Cal Poly's Prader and Hollander land top honors from Big West

Two Cal Poly track and field athletes earned postseason honors from the Big West Conference on Wednesday.

John Prader was named the Big West Male Field Athlete of the Year. The senior pole vaulter won his second straight Big West title last weekend. He cleared 17 feet, 7.25 inches at the Conference meet. Earlier this season, Prader broke a 16 year old Cal Poly record when he cleared 18 feet, 7 inches, which ranks #3 in the nation this season.

Laura Hollander earned Women's Track and Field Freshman of the Year. Hollander broke the conference championship meet record in the 5,000 with a time of 16:25.62. She won by 49 seconds. Earlier this season, she sported an NCAA West qualifying mark of 15:53.73 that at the time set the overall Big West record.

Both Prader and Hollander will compete for spots the NCAA Championships next week at the West Regional in Austin, Texas.
