Cal Poly star signs first professional basketball contract

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Star forward Chris Eversley signed a contract Tuesday to play professionally for the Westport Malaysia Dragons after leading the Cal Poly basketball team to its first-ever Big West Conference Title this past season.

The Big West Tournament Most Valuable Player is one of two foreign players that signed contracts with the Dragons, who compete in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Basketball League.

Eversley led the Mustangs during his senior season, averaging 13.5 points and 7.1 rebounds per game; he is the ninth player in Head Coach Joe Callero's five year tenure to continue playing professionally.

Eversley tallied 1,192 total points during his time suiting up in Green and Gold, placing him 12th in program history.

The Westport Malaysia Dragons start their season on July 1.
