Cal Poly thrash Northern Illinois 10-1

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The Cal Poly baseball team got six solid innings from Santa Barbara High alum Danny Zandona and three hits from first basemen Tim Wise en route to a 10-1 thrashing of Northern Illinois on Wednesday.

Zandona - who was making his first start of the season for the eighth ranked Mustangs - allowed just a single earned run while striking out six batters.

Wise was joined by center fielder Jordan Ellis, who also collected three hits in the victory. Cal Poly struck for three first inning runs, and led 9-1 after just three innings of play.

Northern Illinois (1-14) got an RBI double from Chris Divarco in the third inning to account for their lone run.

The Mustangs improved to 13-3 with the victory. The two teams wrap up their three game series tomorrow night.
