The Cal Poly women's basketball team is headed to the NCAA Tournament for the first-time in school history. The Mustangs upset top seeded Pacific on Saturday to win their first-ever Big West Tournament title and captured the program's first-ever berth to the Big Dance.
Bill Halter was courtside in Anaheim for the historic game. He'll have a complete recap on KSBY News at 6pm, 10pm and 11 pm.
Ariana Elegado led the Mustangs with 22 points. Caroline Reeves and Nikol Allison added 10 points each. Santa Maria native Molly Schlemer scored 7 points and pulled down a team-high 16 rebounds. The junior, who was already named the Big West Player of the Year, earned Tournament MVP.
The Mustangs won despite losing senior starter Kayla Griffin to a knee injury in the second half.
