Three Mustangs scored in double figures as Cal Poly won, 72-63 at the University of Nevada-Reno. The Mustangs are now 5-3 while the Wolfpack drop to 3-3.
Senior guard Kayla Griffin scored 10 points and hauled down 10 rebounds while junior Jonae Ervin led the Mustangs with 15 points. It was Ervin's fourth game played and first start of the season. The 5'3" guard tore her ACL in Cal Poly's season ending loss to Long Beach State in the Big West Tournament last March. The third Mustang in double figures was senior Caroline Reeves with 14 points.
Cal Poly shot 40 percent while Nevada made just 30 percent of its shots. The Mustangs made 4-16 shots from three point range compared to 5-15 for Nevada. The Wolfpack won the rebounding battle, 47-40. Cal Poly was up 34-30 at the half.
The Mustangs have two weeks off before hosting San Diego State on Sunday, December 16 at 2:00pm.
