Cal Poly women going to San Diego in WNIT

It's not the NCAA Tournament this season for the Cal Poly women's basketball team. The Mustangs will play at the University of San Diego on Thursday in the Women's National Invitation Tournament. It's the fourth time in as many seasons Cal Poly has advanced to a postseason tournament. The Mustangs made the NCAA Tournament last season after winning the Big West Tournament. They are 0-2 all-tine at the WNIT.

The Mustangs are 18-13 overall after losing to Cal State Northridge on Saturday in the Big West championship game. USD is 22-8 overall, the Toreros were eliminated in the quarterfinal round of the West Coast Conference Tournament by Saint Mary's, 60-58.

USD has a 9-7 series edge on Cal Poly in all-time match ups but the Mustangs won, 69-50 when the teams played last season in San Luis Obispo.

The Toreros beat Cal State Fullerton, Long Beach State and UC Irvine of the Big West during the regular season.

The winner of the Cal Poly/San Diego game will advance to play the winner of the Montana/Washington State game. The time of the game has not yet been determined.
