The Cal Poly women's soccer team scored three second half goals and won at Loyola Marymount, 3-1. The non-conference game was the season-opener for both teams.

Cal Poly freshman goal keeper Alyssa Giannetti made nine saves in her debut for the Mustangs. Giannetti allowed a first half goal but the Mustangs dug out of the hole in the second half. Cristina Farrington scored Cal Poly's first goal of the season in the 54th minute. Cal Poly took the lead in the 58th minute when Jess Duller's shot deflected off a defender and into the net. Elise Krieghoff provided an insurance goal in the 69th minute.

Cal Poly took 11 shots with six on goal, LMU took 14 shots, 10 on goal.

The Mustangs host Cal State Bakersfield on Sunday at noon.
