LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) - California State University Chancellor Charles Reed has announced that he is retiring.

In a statement Thursday, Reed says he will remain in his post until a replacement is found.

Reed has headed the 23-campus system for the past 14 years. Prior to that, he headed the Florida State University system for 13 years.

Reed says he plans to return to Florida to spend more time with his family.
