SAN LEANDRO, Calif. (AP) - Investigators are reviewing surveillance video after a Black Friday shooting at a San Leandro Walmart left a shopper hospitalized.
Police say the victim and his family were walking to their car just before 2 a.m. when a group of men demanded they turn over their purchases. When the family refused a fight broke out, leading to the shooting. Family members were able to wrestle down one of the suspects, 20-year-old Tony Phillips. He has been arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide and attempted robbery.
Police are looking for at least three other people involved in the shooting, including the gunman.
Police Sgt. Mike Sobek says the suspects were unsuccessful in their robbery attempt and the victim is expected to live.
