SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - California Gov. Jerry Brown is undergoing radiation treatment for prostate cancer, his office said Wednesday.
The cancer is in its early stages, University of California San Francisco oncologist Eric Small said in a statement released by the office.
He said it is being treated with a short course of conventional radiotherapy. He called the governor's prognosis excellent.
Brown is the son of former two-term governor Edmund G. Brown and has spent a lifetime in politics, including terms as the secretary of state, attorney general and mayor of Oakland.
