The California Highway Patrol confirmed Friday that human remains were found in a truck that wound up in a ravine off Painted Cave Road in Santa Barbara County.
The truck was owned by a person reported missing in March of 2012, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office.
A spokesperson for the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Coroner's Office said it may several weeks to positively identify the remains since the accident did not happen recently.
Deputies in a helicopter flying over the area Thursday spotted the vehicle 300 feet down a cliff in an area of thick brush off Highway 154.
