The California Mid-State Fair board of directors says they've been given the Agricultural Award of Excellence Best of Division from the International Association of Fairs and Expositions.

The award was given specifically for the new Mission Square and commercial kitchen project, which was launched last year. There are a total of 15 Agriculture Award categories.

The award was presented during the Agriculture Awards Breakfast at the beginning of December, and the board says "this is the highest honor the California Mid-State Fair has received from the industry."

The 2010 fair is scheduled to run July 21 through August 1. The theme is "Endless Summer Fun."
