SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Cal Poly hopes to have men's basketball coach Joe Callero signed to a new contract extension soon.
Callero - who led the Mustangs to their first NCAA Tournament appearance and their first NCAA Tournament win this past season - is currently under contract with the university until 2017.
"(Athletic Director) Don Oberhelman and I have had a chance to sit down and he's open to a contract extension and I'm open to a contract extension." said Callero, "this is my home and this is where I want to be."
Callero says he has not been contacted by any university directly in regards to any head coaching vacancies and while he's flattered by any interest, he hopes to be in San Luis Obispo long term.
"Moving forward we hope to be able to dot the I's and cross the T's and move forward on making this a long term program we continue to build."
Callero, who coached previously at Seattle University, is 77-83 over his five year tenure with Cal Poly.
