GORDA, Calif. (AP) - Five current and former California Department of Transportation employees have been arrested for theft of state property from their Big Sur coastal maintenance station.
Caltrans and the California Highway Patrol say the suspects have been booked at the Monterey County Jail in Salinas for investigation of felony theft of state property, overtime fraud and conspiracy.
The San Luis Obispo County Tribune (http://bit.ly/JUpZS7 ) says Danny Millsap, Robert Eskridge, Kevin Liddiard and Angelina Galvan, as well as retired employee Phillip Taylor, are being held on $1 million each.
The suspects worked at the Willow Springs Maintenance Station near Gorda, an unincorporated community on State Route 1 about three miles north of Cape San Martin.
Caltrans learned of the alleged overtime overcharges and property thefts in November and asked the CHP to investigate.
