The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Department arrested 22-year old Brandon Noble Henslee on Friday morning for the murder of his half-brother, 20-year old Tyler Daniel Hanks.
Hanks was reported missing on the morning of August 26, and his body was found hours later in an open field just a mile from his house on the 400 block of Leighton Street in Cambria.
Sheriff Ian Parkinson told KSBY on Friday, "we've been diligently working in the case since that time to determine who is responsible."
Sheriff investigators arrested Henslee on a parole violation on August 26 while investigating the killing. They did not say at that time whether he was a suspect.
"The parole violation afforded us at the time to do a very thorough investigation of the crime, and subsequently make the arrest this morning," said Parkinson.
Sheriff investigators are staying tight-lipped on a motive, but said last month that the homicide was suspicious in nature and they suspected foul play.
Parkinson said, "we want to assure the residents of Cambria that we moved as quickly as necesssary to ensure their safety. We feel this is an isolated incident, and Mr. Henslee is solely responsible for the homicide at this point."
