Representative Lois Capps is visiting Fort Hope on the Loomis Ranch Wednesday.
Fort Hope is an 1880's frontier-style children's museum for at-risk and underprivileged children in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties. At the museum, the idea is to teach kids about history, while removing them from modern society.
It serves a lot of local kids, including children with special health care needs, children who are terminally ill, elementary history students, scouting troops, and 4H groups. Kids can try fishing, archery, farming, and other outdoor activities.
Capps will take her tour from 12:45 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Fort Hope is located at 8020 Mary Hall Road in Arroyo Grande.
