One Santa Maria school is giving its students a close-up look at different careers. KSBY's Monica Quintero was one of many guest speakers at the "career day" event.
It took place at Fesler Junior High School. Students asked Monica questions about what it's like to be a journalist.
Michael Ruiz, student, said, "You have ideas of what you'd like to be. You're getting the first couple of ideas to go through selection after college and universities."
Michael Martin, student, said, "I'm learning about so many different kinds of careers I can go do when I graduate high school." Students also got some hands-on experience. They helped record the video seen on KSBY's newscasts.
