Career night earns Atascadero's Hicks FNH Player of the Week honors

For his career effort in an epic upset, Atascadero High running back Ethan Hicks is selected as the Week 11 Friday Night Highlights Player of the Week.

The sophomore scored his first two touchdowns of the season and rushed for a season-best 94 yards on 15 carries in Atascadero's upset win at #1 seeded Palmdale last Friday.

Hicks scored a 5 yard touchdown run in the third quarter to give the Greyhounds a 14-7 lead. Later he scored on a 26 yard run to give the Hounds a commanding 20-7 lead over previously undefeated Palmdale. The Hounds, who entered the postseason at 4-6 overall and were the #16 seed, stunned the top seed 26-7 to advance into the second round of CIF. Atascadero hosts Canyon on Friday, the same team that eliminated San Luis Obispo in the first round 42-9.
