Carport fire spreads to Paso Robles apartments

Firefighters are investigating the cause of an apartment fire in Paso Robles on Friday afternoon.

It broke out just before 4:00 pm in the carport of an apartment building on the 300 block of 15th Street.

Firefighters say San Luis Obispo County Supervisor Frank Mecham discovered the fire. He called 911 and attempted to put out the flames.

When crews arrived, they found the flames had spread from the carport, to the outside of the apartment above it, and into the attic.

They were able to get the fire under control in about a half hour.

One apartment unit sustained moderate smoke and water damage.

No one was hurt.
