A national health network with hospitals on the Central Coast changes its name.
Catholic Healthcare West announced Monday it has changed its name to Dignity Health in order to stay successful in the changing health care environment.
The group's Catholic hospitals will continue to be rooted in the Catholic tradition. Its non-Catholic hospitals will stay non-Catholic.
Locally, Dignity Health operates Marian Medical Center in Santa Maria, Arroyo Grande Community Hospital, and French Medical Center in San Luis Obispo.
A statement from Dignity Health reads:
"In the rapidly changing health care environment, this new name and structure position the entire organization for growth and success. Our mission, vision, and values remain the same, as does our community to providing the communities of the Central Coast with excellent care."
