(WLWT) Ohio police are looking for a suspect who suddenly and violently attacked a man at Middletown laundromat.
Investigators said the suspect approached the victim from behind and beat him with a stick.
Police said the suspect attacked David Jones, 57, from behind as he was leaving Mid-Town Laundry on Sunday.
"He made a fast movement. I could tell something was going on right then," Jones said.
"He had a big old club, coming down at my head. He smacked me in the head. He started trying to hit me again. I put my clothes up like a shield to block him," Jones said.
Police said Jones fought off his attacker but had to be treated for serious injuries. He received 18 staples and 4 stitches on his face and head.
"I thought I was going to pass out I was bleeding so bad," Jones said.
Police are asking for help identifying Jones' attacker. He was described as a balding white man in his 40s or 50s with a goatee. He wore glasses, a long black jacket, blue jeans and work boots. Police said he fled the scene of the attack in a small, red four-door car.
"I'm seeing all this blood coming out. I'm thinking, ‘How long can I last? I don't know,'" Jones said.
