A star studded affair for a good cause. That was the scene in San Simeon today. Hundreds of cyclists took a 100-mile ride down the Pacific Coast Highway from Carmel to San Simeon in support of Best Buddies International. The non-profit helps people with intellecutal and developmental disabilities. Several celebrities turned out for the event including actors Rob Lowe, David Hasselhoff, and Olympic gold medalist Carl Lewis.
"Best Buddies is about friendship. Everyone has a friend, so know what somebody with intellectual disabilities feels like when they don't have a friend," Lewis said.
"I really want the takeaway to be, 'Wow! This population is out there and wow, they're really talented and gifted and I never really knew that before but now I do,'" said Best Buddies International Founder Anthony Shriver.
Audi was the title sponsor for the event, which raised around $4 million.
