Census workers prepare to go door to door

Census workers will officially begin going door-to-door tomorrow to make sure everyone is counted.

The census bureau in Santa Maria has been training more than one thousand workers to cover both Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties. Census officials say around 90,000 homes are still unaccounted for.

"It may be because we have not gathered it. We may be having to validate your address. A couple different reasons why someone may be coming there. Just bare with, answer the questions that they have," said Amy Allen-Lopez, Asst. Manager of Field Operations at the bureau.

You can identify census workers by their badge and tote bag. If you have any concerns, they can help you fill out the ten question census form.
