Central California police chief arrested, released

TULARE, Calif. (AP) - The chief of police in the Central California town of Tulare is under arrest.

Tulare City Manager Don Dorman said Monday that Chief Jerry Breckinridge's girlfriend called to report a dispute on Saturday night.

The Tulare County Sheriff's Department arrested Breckinridge at home Sunday, and he was released on bail.

No formal charges have been filed, and the city manager says Breckinridge remains on the job.
