Flu season is now in full swing on the Central Coast. That's according to local doctors who say this year's flu season has produced more cases already than in the past few years.
Doctors have some advice for beating the flu.
For starters: get a vaccine that will help fight off the illness.
If you begin to get sick with flu-like symptoms, go to the doctor.
Medications can be given to shorten the length of the sickness if caught in the first forty-eight hours.
And, if you haven't had a shot and get the flu, expect to be on your back for five to seven days.
Dr. Mark Juretic , the Medical Director of Marian Community Clinics, said,
"Certainly were seeing flu activity on a daily basis at the clinics you talk to other doctors in town other clinics there seeing the same thing as well."
People most in danger if they get the flu are the elderly, people with heart and lung ailments and young kids who have asthma.
Finally, keeping your face and hands clean are two of the best ways to beat the flu battle.
