Central Coast hospitals welcome first babies of new year

The first day of the new year is a happy one for some Central Coast families as they welcome new additions.

Hospitals in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties have both welcomed the first babies of 2014.

The first baby born in San Luis Obispo County was at 12:38 a.m. at Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo.

Belle Pullen was born to parents Danielle Weyrich and Brian Pullen.

She weighed 6 pounds, 14 ounces.

Belle's parents say she got the name because they thought she looked like a bell pepper during ultrasounds.

Belle is the couple's second child.

In Santa Barbara County, little Oliver Sanchez was the first baby born.

He made his arrival at 3:40 a.m. to parents Yoali Lorenzo and Marcos Sanchez, from Santa Barbara, at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

Oliver was 7 pounds, 6 ounces and is Yoali's and Marcos's first baby.
