KSBY Communications is pleased to announce that one of the nation's top local TV news talents is coming home to the Central Coast. Jeanette Trompeter will join the KSBY News team beginning in January 2010.

During her two decades as a television anchor and reporter, Trompeter has been honored with multiple prestigious journalism awards. These include two Edward R. Murrow awards and six regional Emmy awards from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

This is a homecoming for Trompeter, a Central Coast native who began her television career at KSBY. After graduating from Cal Poly, Trompeter worked at KSBY as a newscast producer and general assignment reporter. She then moved to KCCI-TV in Des Moines, Iowa, quickly becoming one of the area's leading anchors. While Trompeter was at KCCI, the station was honored with a national Edward R. Murrow award for overall excellence. In 2005, Trompeter moved to Minneapolis to take an anchor position at WCCO-TV. In both of the last two years, she was honored with Emmy awards for best anchor.

On returning to KSBY, Trompeter said, "I've always dreamed of coming home to the station where I got my start. There's no place in the country like the Central Coast and I look forward to bringing my friends, family and neighbors information that makes a real impact in their lives."

"We are thrilled to have a journalist of Jeanette's caliber rejoin the team at KSBY," said News Director Dave Schermer. He continued, "I know Central Coast residents will benefit from her insight, integrity and personal connections to our community."

Beginning January 4, Trompeter will join Tony Cipolla, Dave Hovde and Andrew Masuda on the anchor desk. She will co-anchor KSBY's newscasts at 5:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m., 6:30 p.m., and 11:00 p.m. More information about Trompeter is available on her blog at www.jeanettetrompeter.com.

I have a picture taken with Jeanette Trompeter taken at Young Finley's in SLO on a Monday night football game wih my Raiders and Kansas City.  She interviewed me and was going to use it IF the Raiders won the game.  Kansas City won in the lst minute of the game, so my interview did not air.  But I just found the picture of me in my Raiders outfit with Jennifer.  Glad she is back.  AND I remember her dad boxing at Cal Poly in the 1950's.  TIGER BILL COTNAM

Our loss is your gain. I live in Minnesota where Jeanette Trompeter was on WCCO-TV. I truly enjoyed her doing the news here. She was treated very poorly by WCCO when they let her go. Instead they kept a no talent and no personality person in her place. Hope you enjoy her as much as we did.

I agree with Tom Thompson. Jeanette was excellent at WCCO.  I too, don't watch CCO any more.  Good luck.   KSBy's gain is a Minneapolis loss.

We look forward to Jeanette Trompeter's return to KSBY BUT what will happen to Danielle Lerner? She is an excellent anchor and how does she feel about being replaced? We are missing Stacy Daniels as the weekend anchor, where do these good people go? Anyway welcome Jeanette, we look forward to seeing you daily.

That's so cool! I worked at KSBY when Jeanette was there.  I was just wondering the other day where she was working...  having stumbled upon a video of her at work in Minnesota a while back, and I think Iowa before then.  Glad to see her back at KSBY. She's extremely talented and will lend an air of professionalism to the KSBY newsroom once again.
