The weather is creating power outages on the Central Coast and around the state. A spokesperson for PG&E says about 33,000 customers in San Luis Obispo County and the Santa Maria area have experienced power outages at some point today. She also says in PG&E's territory, which makes up about two-thirds of the state, more than 170,000 customers have experienced power outages.

PG&E says all available personnel are working to restore power. The utility has been preparing for the storm for the last weeks. PG&E does prioritize where to send its crews. It sends crews first to hospitals and areas that are public safety hazards. PG&E also takes into consideration the size of the power outage.
