SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Central Coast Water-skier Tyler Yager ranks as the 29th-best water-skier in the world in the latest International Water Ski Federation World Rankings, released in June.
Yager said he has been motivated by the death of his father, Brett Yager, who died in a tragic waterskiing accident.
"It just made me push harder and keep competing because I knew it would make him happy. I want him to be proud of me, so I keep striving to do my very best," Yager said. "He would want me to keep skiing and he knows that I really love this sport."
Yager finished third in the U-21 World Water Skiing Championships last month, and is a senior at UC San Diego.
He is set to graduate this May and hopes to continue on his father's legacy through waterskiing.
