Central Coast Wine Classic continues in Avila Beach

The Central Coast Wine Classic kicked off Thursday and continues this weekend. The event is one of the top 10 charity wine auctions in the country. This is the 29th year in the running. On Saturday, guests were invited to a French Burgundy Symposium, auction, and luncheon. Proceeds from the event and auction benefit local charities. "In 1985, the Central Coast needed some tourism visibility. The wineries were virtually unheard of and they needed some promotional visibility, and public radio needed some fund sustenance," said Archie McLaren, the Founder and Chairman of the event. Last year's event raised more than $1 million. The event continues tomorrow at the Avila Beach Golf Resort from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
