The Central Coast woman who inspired a piece of California legislation now has a signed copy of the bill.
Assemblyman Katcho Achadjian and Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce Dudley gave a signed copy of AB-65 to Courtney Wettach Thursday.
The bill makes it clear that if someone impersonates a rape victim's partner or spouse, they can be found guilty of felony rape.
The bill was inspired by Wettach's case in Santa Barbara County.
A man had sex with her while posing as her boyfriend.
It took achadjian three years to get the law passed in Sacramento.
