February is National Children's Dental Health Month and that has some local dentists making sure children in need have clean, healthy smiles.

It's part of the nationwide program called Give Kids A Smile. Local dentists provided free treatments for dozens of San Luis Obispo County students at Community Health Centers in Nipomo Saturday. They offered everything from cleanings and sealants, to root canals and extractions.

"These kids, some of them have never seen a dentist before and some of them are in pain and so our goal is to get them healthy and out of pain," said Robyn Flores, a general dentist at CHC.

The students were pre-screened at their schools. Organizers plan to provide another day of free treatments in March.
