Cherry, Isbell lead Templeton volleyball into second round of CIF

Henri Cheery and Tobey Isbell led the Templeton hitting attack as the Eagles came-from-behind to beat visiting El Rancho 3-1 in the first round of the Division 4 CIF playoffs on Tuesday.

The Eagles dropped the first set 25-21, but battled back to win the next three 28-26, 26-24 and 25-18.

Cherry, a 6-6 junior, led Templeton with 21 kills and 5 blocks. Isbell recorded 18 kills, while Jordan Scully added 8 for the Eagles. Setter Eric Lahargou dished out 49 assists.

The Los Padres League champion Eagles improved to 16-1 on the season and play the winner of the Vistamar/Garey match in Thursday's second round.

The Morro Bay Pirates lost 3-0 at Bellflower in the first round.

Santa Ynez lost 3-1 to Salesian in Los Angeles. The Pirates finished 11-11 after losing 21-25, 33-35, 25-19 and 22-25. Jordan Yarnell led the Pirates with 12 kills.
