The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating a disturbing situation at New York's JFK airport, where a child apparently had a hand directing several flights from the control tower.
The F.A.A has confirmed that an air traffic controller at JFK brought his son to work on February 17.
LiveATC.net, a web site that monitors and records control tower transmissions, has audio tape of the child directing at least two flights that day.
The tapes don't give any indication that the pilots involved were concerned about a child in the tower.
The union that represents air traffic controllers at JFK called the incident "totally unprofessional."
The air traffic controller who brought the boy and a supervisor have been suspended as the investigation into the incident continues.
