Lompoc Police officers say a man allegedly tried to take a two-year-old child from a daycare provider this morning at a local park. He was unsuccessful.
Officers responded to Ryon Park in the 800 block of Ocean Avenue. That's where the child's daycare provider says a man tried to take the child away. The daycare provider was able to get the child away safely, and the suspect ran off. He was last seen leaving the area of Ryon Park towards Ocean Avenue.
Witnesses describe the suspect as a Hispanic man in his 40's or 50's, about 5 feet 6 inches tall, wearing a dark blue windbreaker with a pink and yellow logo on the front left side. He was also wearing a dark colored baseball hat, possibly brown, with some sort of a logo on it. The suspect spoke mostly Spanish, with some broken English.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Lompoc Police Department.
