A spokesperson for Cal Fire says a California Highway Patrol helicopter is circling the Shell Beach area, looking for a possible lost swimmer.

A call came in around 6:20 p.m. this evening, from a concerned citizen who says they saw someone swimming in the ocean near the Cliff's Hotel, then lost sight of them a short time after.

After a search rescue, nothing was found and a helicopter was called in. The CHP helicopter is turning it's search over to the Pismo Beach Police Department.

The Cal Fire spokesperson says it could be possible that the swimmer got out of the water where the witness could not see it, and as of now no one is reported missing.
