The California Highway Patrol has identified the man hit and killed in Nipomo Sunday morning as Fabian Alexander, 46. CHP believes the victim was a transient.
Officers are still looking for the driver they believe killed Alexander as he was walking across the off-ramp of Hwy. 101 North at the Hwy. 166 East exit. The car is described as a dark blue Chevrolet Corvette.
Early Monday morning, officers discovered a car on fire on Foxen Canyon Road near Dominion Road in rural Santa Maria. Officers are still working to identify what kind of car it is, because it was so badly burned in the fire. Investigators have not confirmed a connection to the hit and run, but say they're not ruling anything out.
