The California Highway Patrol says the two pedestrians killed on Highway 154 Friday night were both women around 50-years-old.

They say the women were walking in the road on Highway 154 near the Rancho San Marcos Golf Course around 11:45 p.m.

Witnesses say the women were hit by vehicles traveling both east and westbound, and while two drivers stopped, at least one fled the scene.

Officials later arrested 48-year-old Martin Macarena from San Luis Obispo for felony hit and run causing injuries.

The CHP is looking for more vehicles that may have been involved.
