Investigators have named Ramiro Chavez, Jr. as a person of interest in the deadly hit and run in Nipomo on Mother's Day.

Fabian Alexander, 46, was killed while walking across the off ramp of Highway 101 North at the 166 east exit in Nipomo.

Witnesses reported seeing a blue Chevy Corvette at the scene and a day later, officers found a corvette burning in rural Santa Maria. Investigators say it has not been ruled out that the burned Corvette is the same vehicle that struck and killed Alexander.

The CHP believes Chavez, Jr. has important information related to the investigation. Officers are asking anyone who might have had any contact with Chavez, Jr. to call the Santa Maria CHP office at (805) 593-3344.
