SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a California Highway Patrol officer was shot in the leg during a high-speed chase that ended with one murder suspect dead and another injured.
The incident began Thursday in Yucca Valley, where officers responding to reports of shots fired found a body in a parked car in a mall parking lot.
The Riverside Press-Enterprise (http://bit.ly/18xf9NB) reports that police and CHP officers pursued two suspects in the shooting in a high-speed freeway chase that ended in San Bernardino, where one of the suspects opened fire.
The officer was injured in the gunbattle and is expected to survive. One suspect was killed and the other injured.
A stray bullet from the shootout grazed the mirror of a passenger bus picking people up nearby.
No one on the bus was injured.
