The California Highway Patrol says it had no choice but to use a taser on a suspected drunk driver in Goleta Tuesday night.
CHP says one of its officers pulled over Gregory Murphy, 33, of Palmdale, around 9:00 p.m. in the 6100 block of Caleta Road, for suspicion of driving drunk. Additional officers arrived on scene and CHP says Murphy was uncooperative and was kicking at the officers.
The officers tased Murphy and took him into custody. Murphy eventually took the DUI test and tested positive for a blood alcohol content level above the legal limit for driving.
He is currently in custody at the Santa Barbara County Jail.
None of the CHP officers involved were injured, nor was Murphy.
