CIF football polls: Lompoc, Mission remain #1, St. Joseph falls

A few teams dropped in the CIF-Southern Section Coaches Poll this week after losing last week.

St. Joseph dropped from #3 to #6 in the Northern Division. The 6-2 Knights saw their six game winning streak snapped last Friday when Atascadero erased a 24-7 fourth quarter deficit to win 28-24 with a TD in the last minute. Arroyo Grande is ranked fifth in the division. The 6-2 Eagles won a shootout at Righetti last Friday. Atascadero and San Luis Obispo are listed as other teams receiving votes and just outside the top 10.

Winners of a state-best 28-straight games, Lompoc football stays atop the Western Division. Dos Pueblos, which is 6-2, is ranked #6 this week. Santa Barbara and Templeton were the two other teams receiving votes and just outside the top 10.

Now 8-0, Mission Prep remains ranked #1 in the Northeast Division. The Royals crushed Farmersville 73-26 last Friday.

In the eight man ranks, Coast Union is ranked 7th after losing to 3rd ranked Cate last Friday in a Division 1 battle.

Cuyama Valley is ranked third and Valley Christian Academy is tabbed fifth in Division.
