Santa Barbara City Administrator Jim Armstrong has appointed Fire Operations Division Chief Pat McElroy to serve as the city's interim fire chief. McElroy has worked with the city's fire department for 32 years. He has served in various leadership positions since 1990.

Santa Barbara City Fire Chief Andy DiMizio will retire from his position on December 14. A search for a permanent replacement is currently underway with an appointment expected in early 2013.
