Lompoc will be getting a new Community Senior Center. The city council approved an $8.5 million bond measure last night to help pay for the project. The senior center will go in next to the Vons off Ocean Avenue. The building is currently empty.

"We'll be able to utilize that for wedding receptions and community activities, recreational activities, senior activities, and a lot of those things will be money generators that will help offset the ongoing costs of the facility, said Lompoc Chief Financial Administrator Brad Wilkie.

City staff has been trying to find funding for the last few years. Some of the bond money will also pay for the installation of a dehumidification system at the Lompoc Aquatic Center.
