The Santa Maria City council will decide how fast you can drive on the Union Valley Parkway at tonight's meeting.

Without a posted speed limit, drivers have been expected to obey the "prima facie" limit of 55 mph. The city has received many complaints about speeding on that road.

City staff will recommend a 45 mph speed limit between Blosser Road and Broadway. The County portion of the road between Hummel Drive and Bradley Road is posted at 50 mph.

Phase III of the project is anticipated to begin this year. Once completed, the road will run east and west, connecting Blosser Road to U.S. 101 in Orcutt.
