Ed Arnold's resignation last night from the Arroyo Grande city council leaves a vacancy.

All four council members agreed to appoint a replacement instead of waiting until the November election. They say there are critical budget issues that need to be resolved in the upcoming months. The council is opening its search to the public and asking interested Arroyo Grande residents to submit letters of intent. Council members will meet May 4th to work out formal details.
