City of Goleta offers free CERT training classes

An organization called Goleta Prepare Now is offering CERT training for the next three weekends. CERT stands for "Community Emergency Response Team." The classes are free to attend and teach emergency response skills. They're open to anyone living in Goleta age 18 and up. The idea is to prepare community members to be more active in emergency situations. People taking the training sessions will go through mock disaster drills. They're taught by firefighters, first responders, and volunteers. Space is limited in the classes. If you'd like to register, contact Luz Reyes-Martin at lreyesmartin@cityofgoleta.org or call (805) 961-7558. There are two more training sessions on November 16th and November 23rd.
