People in Arroyo Grande showcased their talents for the Search for the Stars auditions at the Clark Center in Arroyo Grande.
Saturday was just the audition for the final show on April 18.
The show will be judged by entertainment professionals who will give feedback to contestants after each performance.
Organizers say around 50 people turned out for a chance at the grand prize.
"It was interesting watching all the applications come in, because there's a lot of singing, a lot of dancing, bands, acoustic guitar acts," said Jamie Maraviglia of the Clark Center Association. "It's a big smorgasboard of talent that we've got coming in."
First prize gets to open for a professional act at the Clark Center and $200.
