Power is expected to be restored to Cuesta Community College in San Luis Obispo by 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Classes were cancelled Wednesday night but will resume on Thursday.

According to Cuesta, the power outage was triggered by a problem in 40-year-old wiring that is scheduled to be upgraded this December.

Students trying to access their MyCuesta Student Portal won't be able to until after 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Smoke was also traced to ventilation fans that started to smoke after the power outage.

Cal Fire was called out to the campus.

No injuries were reported.
